Studio Stefan Jovanović / Kinship Constellations

A collaborative dance-piece made by Mark Lorimer and Stefan Jovanović for the Goya Museum in Castres, France; commissioned by L'Association Départementale pour le Développement des Arts du Tarn. The dance takes as its premise an oil painting by Picasso, 'Buste d'homme écrivant', 1971. At the end of PIcasso's life, he returned to the themes of inspiration and that which fuelled the writer's soul. This creation interprets all that is not portrayed in the painting, as felt inspiration begins to travel in the form of impulse and gesture from hands to every other human limb. The writer begins to erase himself from the frame, as it is fractured and painting becomes dance.
