A back-bending arch, a product of so-called back-bending hysteria. Made from fibre-glass and resin, crystals, canvas, and pigments. This ergonomic sculpture takes from a human body's impression of a back-bending arch, once considered the sign of madness. The form imprints the 'hysterical' body posture, freezing it in time, tempting the spectator to try and fill its voids and experience a heart-opening stretch.
Made using both traditional and innovative technologies. The polystyrene mould was sculpted both by hand and a robotic arm, whose positive was the enlargement of a small 3D-scanned clay sculpture.
